One Winged by Lyall F. Harris
Lyall F. Harris: “One-wingèd’ is an accordion structure with paper covers and paper enclosure. The poetic text, which appears on the verso sides, uses the metaphor of an injured ‘one-wingèd’ bird (single wings appear on the recto sides) to reveal facets of a family ultimately ‘crushed’ by psychological abuse.”
Alexandria Searls (Daily News Record, Harrisonburg, VA) :"’One-wingèd’ by Lyall Harris…a story of love, disappointment, and emotional violence, the typeset words on one side of the accordion, and colorful wings, one at a time, on the other. The one-wing is a metaphor of damage in the romantic partner; the partner can't fly, the relationship can't fly. The one wing is beautiful, though changing in color and mood, unpredictably, dangerously."
